Yup, Harm Reduction is my thing. One of my dream jobs is to work at Safeworks here: giving out clean needles, STD testing on prostitutes/homeless, handing out condoms.

If I ever do my Master's, I plan to focus on Harm Reduction Theory. I already have some ideas for research.

I'll check out nursinglink after my shift today. People just can't seem to grasp the idea that HIV is the bigger issue. And, even more importantly, every time you hand that drug user a clean needle, he/she is making non-threatening contact with a health professional--who comes with access to rehabilitation services among many.

But, Jen, I know I'm "preaching to the choir."

That's so funny--I remember how my first reflective journal assignments were kind of a tortured, I'm scared melodrama. Good times, good times...

So you likey the harms reduction stuff huh? Check out nursinglink.com today. Sign in and help me out--the safe injection site discussion has degenerated to "Why would we give clean needles to addicts?!" Seriously.
